
On Thursday June 14th, 2018 the 7th edition of the Italian Contemporary Film Festival (ICFF) held their opening night party at Ricarda’s Restaurant to kick off a nine day movie festival of the best new Italian and international movies. The ICFF opening party was an evening with glamour, delicious and savory Italian food, decadent sweets, open bar and even guest stars!
This year’s opening movie for the ICFF festival was Like a Cat on a Highway by Riccardo Milani, it is a comedy tale about a couple who live completely opposite lives that enter conflicting situations and with the directors desired effect he was able to do so with laughter. The closing night movie, The Music of Silence by Michael Radford is the story of the childhood dreams of world-renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli. Since its first edition, the ICFF has screened a collection of hundreds of feature films, documentaries and shorts from more than 30 countries.
The ICFF, which took place over a 2-week period, June 14th-June 22, 2018, also included panel discussions, workshops, guest appearances by filmmakers and actors, ICFF Moda Italia and closing gala and ICFF awards. Some highlights of the 7th annual ICFF awards winners are: Lifetime Achievement award- Claudio Bisio, People’s Choice award- Tulipani, Love, Honour and a Bicycle, the IC Savings award- Road to the Lemon Grove.
The ICFF is proudly Canadian and showcased international films defying conventional perspectives on complex issues facing both the Italian and global communities. Cristiano de Florentiis and Maurizio Magnifico are the co-founders of ICFF and Cristiano deFlorentiis declared that this edition will feature a record breaking number of Italian Canadian co-productions. Congratulations ICFF to another great film festival and for showcasing films that builds bridges between cultures and societies.
