
Daniel Alfredsson, Roberto Luongo, Riikka Sallinen, Daniel Sedin, Henrik Sedin and Herb Carnegie were inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame 2022. The HHOF held their Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Weekend from November 11 to 14, 2022. It consisted of the Hockey Hall of Fame game between Pittsburgh and Toronto on November 11, the Haggar Hockey Hall of Fame Legends Classic on November 13 and the Induction Celebration on November 14, 2022.
Hockey icons Hockey Hall of Fame Legends Classic Game – Team Belfour vs. Team Lindros:
Honoured Members Mats Sundin and Eric Lindros captained two star laden teams which faced off at Scotiabank Arena on November 13, 2022. It featured a pre-game ceremony honouring the Induction Class of 2022.





The 2022 Induction Celebration:
The 2022 Induction Celebration was held on Monday, November 14th at the Meridian Centre in Toronto. It was a good year for the HHOF induction as six individuals were inducted to the Hockey Hall of Fame Honoured Membership: five in the Player Category and one in the Builder Category.


In the Player Category:
Daniel Alfredsson won the Calder Trophy as Rookie of the Year for the Ottawa Senators in the 1995-96 NHL season. During 17 seasons with the Senators, he set franchise records for goals (426), assists (682) and points (1108). In addition, Daniel won gold medal for Sweden at the 2006 Olympic Games.
Roberto Luongo played 1044 NHL regular season games with the New York Islanders after being drafted 4th in the 1997 NHL draft. He was elected captain of the Vancouver Canucks in 2008. Roberto won two gold medals in 2010 and 2014 as part of the Canadian team at the Olympics
Riikka Sallinen scored 240 goals and added 274 assists for 514 227 Finnish elite league games. She is the first female Finnish player inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Riikka Sallinen is a three-time European Women’s Hockey Championship winner (1989, 1993 and 1995).
Daniel Sedin played seventeen seasons with the Vancouver Canucks scoring 393 goals. He won a gold medal at the 2006 Olympics as part of the Swedish team. “I’m really proud of this special recognition,” said Daniel Sedin. “My brother and I came into the league together and to go in with him is extra special.”
Henrik Sedin is the Vancouver Canucks’ career record holder in games played (1,330), assists (830) and points (1,070), Henrik had his number 33 retired in 2020. In international play, Henrik also won an Olympic gold on the Swedish Olympic teams in 2006
In the Builder Category:
Toronto born Herb Carnegie was part of an Ontario Jr. B championship team in 1937. He was a member of the team that won the OHA senior “A” championship in 1954 Carnegie. After retiring he worked to further diversity in the game of hockey until his death in 2012
