The Northern Road Link

For the second year, the Northern Road Link   [https://northernroadlink.ca/]   held an Open House at PDAC 2023.  “The Northern Road Link would link two proposed roads, the 200 kilometre Marten Falls to Aroland Community Access Road at the south end, and the proposed 110-kilometre Webequie Supply Road to the Ring of Fire at the north end.”  It also connects the Webequie First Nation to the all- season highway network and links the “Ring of Fire” to the community of MFFN and, via MFCAR, to the all-season highway network.  These three projects are undergoing separate environmental assessments under criteria established by the Northern Road Link.  These studies will identify potential effects (positive and negative) to the environment and identify mitigation measures to reduce or remove potential negative effects.  This group obtains input from the public and others and aboriginal groups such as the Marten Falls First Nation, an Ojibway community located on the north bank of the Albany and River Webequie First Nation, an Ojibway community, located on a peninsula on Winisk Lake.
