Presentations by leaders of three levels of government highlighted the Ontario Economic Summit 2023. There were presentations by the Honourable PM Justin Trudeau, the Honourable Doug Ford and Her Worship Olivia Chow, Mayor, City of Toronto. The theme of this year’s summit is ‘Partnerships for Prosperity’. It promised a rosy picture for Ontario to foster economic growth and new opportunities; however, difficult issues remain.

The most fascinating was the panel on completion.

The competition law debate went in favour of “Be It Resolved: Fixing the Competition Act Is the Best Way to Bring More Competition to Canada:”; however, the real question is how to fix it? The answer lies in lowering the concentration in various industries in Canada by fixing the competition Act to prevent mergers that reduce competition. The ideas presented by the Canadian Anti-Monopoly Project are persuasive. It is important that this be pursued on an international scale
