The Men's Tennis Canada Cup 2008! was held July 19 to 27, 2008 at the Rexall Centre on the campus of York University which is located at the north end of
Toronto.
"Since 1881, a bevy of tennis stars have blessed Canadians with their impressive talent. The world famous Canadian Open, the oldest ongoing tournament after
Wimbledon and the U.S. Open, continues to present a first grade organization. From Toronto to Montreal every other year, the Rogers Cup is an important leg
of the ATP Masters Series. With $2.615 million dollars U.S. prize money, this event attracts the world1s best tennis players.
The impressive list of past champions on the Canadian stop of the professional tennis circuit bear such legendary names as John McEnroe, Bjorn Borg, Ivan
Lendl, Andre Agassi and Roger Federer. At the inauguration of Toronto1s Rexall Centre in 2004, 41 of the 50 best men1s players in the world played for a
record Toronto crowd of 165,508 spectators. In 2007, the Rogers Cup enjoyed the best attendance in its history, attracting 182, 252 spectators to Montreal1s
Uniprix Stadium. Not only is that number a Canadian record, but it is also a world record for a week-long tennis tournament."

This tournament attracted the men1s stars like top seeds 1. Roger Federer and 2. Rafael Nadal; however, Federer lost in the early rounds thereby
preventing the much anticipated match between Federer and Nadal.
Roger Federer, clearly not on the top of his game, lost in the first round to Giles Simon. Giles Simon was defeated by Nicolis Kiefer who lost to Nadal in
the lopsided final. TorontoArtsandEvents ponders whether or not the top seeds just don1t train or don1t care about the none grand slam tennis events?
The doubles draw attracted the world1s top doubles teams including the No. 1. Toronto's favourite Daniel Nestor (Toronto) and ,Nenad Zimonjic (Serbia) and
the No. 2 Bob and Mike Bryan (USA).
The top seeds, Bob and Mike Bryan won the doubles trophy in a tie breaker. Fans we spoke to were disappointed that there was no third set. We suggest they
change the format to a third set!!
