The 2009 Rocket Prize

The Rocket Fund awarded the 2009 Rocket Prize to the best independently produced Canadian television program or film on Wednesday May 6, 2009 at the Carlu in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The four finalists were: 1. Instant Star seasons three and four, Producers Linda Schuyler and Stephen Stohn of Epitome Pictures Inc., Toronto, ON; 2. How She Move, Producers Brent Barclay, Jennifer Kawaja and Julia Sereny of Sienna Film Productions VII Inc., Toronto, ON; 3. Fred's Head, Producers André Bélanger and Luc Châtelain, Spectra Animation, Montréal, QC; and 4. Sticks and Stones, Producers Andre Béraud, Rick LeGuerrier, Timothy M. Hogan, Richard Speer and Josée Vallée, Cirrus Communications Montréal, QC and Dream Street Pictures Inc., Moncton, NB. George Strombonopolous (CBC) announced the winner-take-all $50,000 cash prize which was awarded to the best produced Canadian youth film or television program at a reception to Sticks and Stones. The stars, directors and producers of these shows were all in attendance.
