Reel World Film Festival 2010

April 7 to 11, 2010

Martin Luthur King had a dream. So did Tonya Lee Williams: it was the Reel World Film Festival - a film festival to promote films and film makers of cultural diversity. It was held this year in Toronto from April 7 to 10, 2010. This is the 10th year of the festival. The festival consists of the industry series, films from countries across the world such as India, Australia, England, German, United States, China and Mexico, festival awards and the opening and closing gala parties.

The Opening night gala film was Off World which tells the story about a man who returns to the Philippines to find a family he has never known. He locates his brother and mother. TorontoArtsandEvents found this film to be too complex and disjointed. It is puzzling why, when the lead actor (played by Narc Abaya) is introduced to his brother, he asks to move in instead of introducing himself to his brother.

The 2010 Reel World Film Festival closed with the film, Teo's Journey which presents the story of a man and his young son, Teo who attempt to cross illegally from Mexico into the U.S.A. and the problems that they encounter. This well done film presents a view of border life not shown on American or Canadian television networks.

With films from a wide diversity of cultures, Tonya's dream has come true - this festival is now a significant and important film festival and mark your calendar for next year! TorontoArtsandEvents! will.
