ABOUT THE GERRY & NANCY PENCER BRAIN TRUST

On May 23, 1997 Gerry Pencer was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma multiform brain tumor. During the course of his illness, Gerry sought information and treatment options that were not readily available. Being a pro-active person, he thought something should be done about this for others suffering from the same disease. As a result, Gerry transformed his devastating diagnosis into The Gerry and Nancy Pencer Brain Trust, a charity organization with a mandate to make a difference in the quality of life for People living with brain tumors. Many years later, The Pencer Brain Trust is the primary source of funding for The Gerry and Nancy Pencer Brain Tumor Centre at the Princess Margaret Hospital.

This event would not have been possible without the incredible dedication of the Gala Committee comprised of co-chairs Stacy Cynamon and Holly Pencer Bellman along with Honorary Chair Nancy Pencer. In just eight years, this annual 'grassroots' fund-raiser has evolved as one of the most creative and respected galas in Toronto each spring. More than 1,000 people attended NOIR and the night generated upwards of $600,000 for this worthy cause.
